DIF ModelWhat Keywords Do I Still Need?

Word Matching

Objectives - ISTE NETS for Students #3: Research and Information Fluency

"locate information from a variety of sources and media"

Directions

Show students photos and have them think of keywords for them.

Show the first photo. Students may write down words that come to mind. For young students, they can whisper words into a partners (or teacher's) ear.

Compare the results while showing the pictures again. Talk about why different words can be used and the different things students saw in the photos.

Discuss how exactly the same thing happens when people put information on the Internet. They call it what they are thinking of. Each of us might think of something else to call it. That's why it's important to look for other words to use when searching--we might not be thinking of the words the author used.
